In a live reading based on her video series ‘A Storyteller Reads’, Kamini Ramachandran will perform a selection of Singapore literary works translated into English from Chinese, Malay and Tamil.
The video series ‘A Storyteller Reads’ is a collection of Singapore Literature focusing on translated works. The original 6 videos (of 5-mins each) feature Kamini reading and narrating both poetry and prose from selected Malay, Tamil and Chinese translated works. There are also bilingual readings in Malay and English.
Writers featured include Cultural Medallion recipients K T M Iqbal and Isa Kamari, migrant poet Md Mukul Hossine, and Singapore Literature Prize winner Latha. The series also features poetry from the anthology SG Poems 2015-2016 by the National Poetry Festival. Through these short videos, ‘A Storyteller Reads’ aims to bring the richness and diversity of translated Singapore literature to new audiences.
The videos were composed for the #BuySingLit project and supported by the National Arts Council, Singapore.
